Built in 1763, our tavern turned bed and breakfast is filled with memories and experiences long forgotten over the centuries. Only three families have ever owned the Smithton Inn and we, the current caretakers, are looking forward to celebrating the history of our Inn with the community.
We wanted to celebrate this milestone anniversary, but we didn't want the focus to rest entirely on our property... we want it to be a celebration of the Ephrata Community and its history, growth and development over the years. That’s why we’re planning a number of special events throughout the year where we can both celebrate with and give back to the community we call home.
We've planned over half a dozen special events in 2013, in honor of the 250th anniversary, including a summertime Gala. All the events will benefit local charities and non-profit organizations. Here's what we've got planned:
2/21: Business After Hours with the Ephrata Area Chamber of Commerce, benefitting Ephrata Area Social Services
4/21: Jazz Brunch, benefitting Ephrata School District music programs
6/21: 250th Anniversary Gala, benefitting the Ephrata Cloister and the Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley
8/25: Back to School Ice Cream Social, benefitting the Ephrata Area Education Foundation
11/3: Historic Smithton Hootenanny!, benefitting the Ephrata Recreation Center
12/1: Countdown to Christmas Clock Lighting, benefitting the Ephrata Cloister Choir
